Marion Cotillard in Haute-Romanche or Béatrice Dalle in Embrunais, not forgetting Samuel Le Bihan for the hit TV series “Alex Hugo” in Briançonnais. Every year, over 300 shooting days (feature films, shorts, TV movies, documentaries, TV series and commercials) are recorded in the Southern Alps.
Hosting film shoots, a vector of appeal
With economic spin-offs from film shoots estimated at 200 million euros per year, the Southern Alps are the second most popular region in France for film shoots, after Ile de France, with 5,000 days of filming each year. For several years now, the Southern Alps have been trying to make a name for themselves, attracting television and film productions in search of new, original and even unprecedented settings and wide-open natural spaces between the high mountains and Haute Provence. Our mountain destinations are attracting more and more audiovisual productions.
A local relay for audiovisual productions
P. Domeyne – AD05
The Hautes-Alpes Development Agencycommissioned by the Southern Region, is a local relay for audiovisual productions in the Southern Alps (Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute Provence) via the Bureau d’accueil des tournages.
This support facilitates the preparatory work of productions prior to filming, in terms of location scouting, permit applications and contacts with local authorities.
The aim is to increase the number of shooting days and direct economic spin-offs by encouraging productions to recruit film technicians and local service providers (shooting canteens, equipment rental, etc.).
The Alex Hugo TV series, which has been showcasing the Hautes-Alpes’ most beautiful landscapes on France Télévision for the past 10 years, attracts over 5 million viewers to each episode. Every year, the Development Agency is approached around 70 times a year by audiovisual project developers, and hosts around 40 film shoots a year.
