Thursday musicals: Barocco Tango Duo
An unexpected and daring fusion of cello and bandoneon… A surprising journey where baroque music and tango meet!
"Barocco Tango duo" by Guillaume Hodeau on badoneon and David Louwerse on cello.
The Barocco Tango Duo pushes back the boundaries of time and aesthetics for a meeting between Baroque madness and Argentinian passion.
From the very first notes of Marin Marais' La Folia, the stage is set. We are transported to a distant era where Baroque music resonates with power, blending elegance and tension. The journey soon takes us to the heart of an Argentinian house, bathed in the mists of a dreamy era. Tango invites itself in, accompanied by the shadows of Piazzolla, Gardel and other great names in South American music.
But the story doesn't end there. Guillaume Hodeau and David Louwerse brilliantly take us through the masterpieces of Vivaldi and Bach, where every note is an invitation to explore the contrasts between past and present. The program closes with the bewitching rhythms of Piazzolla's Grand Tango, a tour de force where the ardor of tango meets the nobility of musical tradition, for a finale of rare intensity.
