ZOU HAS FOUND MUSICIANS

Evelyne Zou is back, but this time she's done touring solo, she's found musicians!

Yes, it took a lot of schoko-bons, but she managed to convince a guitarist and a double-bass player to accompany her. And the truth is, it's changed her life…

Evelyne Zou's poetic sense of humor, her self-mockery and her corrosive view of the world are all in unison, and she's got a way of wowing audiences in less time than it takes to say Zou! Is it a show or a concert? We don't really know… But we don't really care.

COMMANDANT COUSTOU

"From island to island, Commandant Coustou crisscrosses the South Seas and probes the abyss in search of buried musical treasures." In 2014, five continental musicians met on a peninsula between the Rhône and Saône rivers to bring to life an imaginary sailor: Commandant Coustou. On board, they discover the incredible musical melting pot of the Caribbean, and initially revisit with relish a repertoire of pre-war Trinidadian calypsos. The incredible abundance of Afro-Caribbean music nourished this crew, who soon set sail for Cuban sounds, Martinican biguine and Haitian twoubadou. After 10 years of existence, two albums and numerous concerts, the crew is heading for new imaginary shores. An alchemical archipelago where, as in the Caribbean, influences blend together to create a new Caribbean horizon: original compositions.

8:30pm OTTiLiE [B] – En boucle

OTTiLiE [B] acoustic quartet

Seeking a path of digital sobriety, I think humorously of the miracles hidden behind the apparent simplicity of human sound potential. I free myself and take the opposite side of technological tools by forbidding myself any link with printed circuits; savoring the luxury of vibrating with musicians. Taking up the exciting challenge of "doing without" in an age of digital one-upmanship. OTTiLiE[B] After 10 years of writing a new song, inventing an original creative process for each of their three albums, with different musicians as accomplices, OTTiLiE [B] returns to their repertoire to offer an original re-reading, in total dissidence with what constituted it. Loops and samples are replaced by vocal and instrumental continuum, a machine-free polyphony of four voices and instruments with singular timbres.

10:30pm BARRUT

Barrut is a thread stretched over the abyss. Harmony keeps us from falling. Voices twin. Made up of 3 female singers, 4 male singers and a percussionist, all from the northern shores of the Mediterranean, Barrut travels the roads, and the choirs beat. We stay, hanging on their lips, fearlessly swaying in balance, listening to the powerful songs they whisper to our souls. Don't try to understand, just intoxicate yourself with this polyphony. The 7 voices, soaring in subtle harmony and strong emotional power, draw their resources from the origins of polyphonic chants, which they fuse with the powerful rhythms of rock-honed percussion. With original compositions imbued with the vigor of folk song, BARRUT draws its fever and the expression of its revolt from a music that is constantly stretched above the madness of the world. Involved in the movement of traditional polyphonies and contemporary music, the energy and gentleness of BARRUT's music find their way into that exhilarating, festive and subversive interstice, which has always been abused and invested: poetry. After 10 years of existence and over 400 concerts, Barrut continues its work of exploration, introspection and expression, refining and affirming the singularity of its language and musicality, and giving life to a unique polyphony that is both contemporary and ageless.
