Saint-Véran at 2040 m, the land where the rooster pecks the stars! The municipality of Saint-Véran, which has had an observatory at an altitude of 2936 m since 1974, is famous for its exceptionally clear skies.
The Maison du Soleil (House of the Sun), at the foot of the snow line in the village, provides an opportunity to observe the activity of our star with high-performance equipment.

A wide range of activities and experiments are carried out to promote scientific culture; the aim is to attract young people to scientific careers by showing that science can be creative in a small mountain community.
A museum and entertainment centre, this MAGICAL place presents the many facets of the Sun through themed guided tours or ""discovery"" workshops using scientific equipment, often one of a kind in France!
