Vertical été – Angle disparu – Cie Retouramont
Wall becomes floor, floor becomes wall. A dancer defies gravity and obliterates landmarks in a choreography of bounces, walks, runs and flights. A vertiginous show in which space is reinvented, confused and opened up to the imagination.
Generally speaking, the wall is a surface that extends into another surface: the floor. At the intersection of these surfaces, at the foot of the wall, there is an angle.
An ordinary pedestrian stops at this angle, whereas a dancer is able to walk on the ground and continue her progression very naturally at the wall.
No longer distinguishable from the ground, the dancer moves across a 3-dimensional surface in a choreography of bounces.
The angle at the foot of the wall no longer limits the body's trajectories; it has disappeared.
She adapts only by changing her orientation, moving from a vertical position when walking on the floor to a horizontal position when walking on the wall.
Walking accelerates, leading to running and jumping. The wall and floor are no longer distinguishable, and the dancer evolves on a 3-dimensional surface in a choreography full of bounces.
The angle at the foot of the wall no longer limits the body's trajectories; it has disappeared.
