Luc Richard – art mountain hiking

Luc Richard, a native of Queyras, is a writer and qualified mountain guide. He organizes trips that combine nature, art and culture in the Alps and the Mediterranean. In the Queyras, Luc offers summer hikes and winter snowshoe treks, with accommodation in gîtes and refuges. His trips combine the discovery of Alpine landscapes with a cultural approach to the region. After his studies, Luc spent ten years in China, where he became a freelance journalist (L'Express, Marianne, Géo) and traveled to the most remote regions (Tibet, Xinjiang, Yunnan, Manchuria). He has published several essays and travelogues, including Voyage à travers la Chine interdite (reissued by Pocket in 2016). Passionate about art, philosophy and literature, Luc has nearly thirty years' experience of travel in Asia, and now organizes escorted tours in the regions of Eastern Tibet. He also has family ties with the island of Naxos (Cyclades), where he offers cultural hikes combining the discovery of Greek, Byzantine and Venetian archaeological remains. He has carried out several autonomous expeditions in the wildest of spaces: two months in uninhabited Tierra del Fuego (Chile), crossing Iceland via the desert highlands. In Haute-Provence, Luc has been certified by the Musée Gassendi to accompany the discovery of its mountain art collection – Refuge d'Art by Andy Goldsworthy – combining hiking and on-site art.
