German Domain

Domaine Allemand is a pioneer in the preservation of a rare indigenous grape variety: Mollard. Nestled on sunny hillsides along the banks of the Durance, this high-altitude estate regularly wins awards. Silver medal 2020 "le Théusien blanc".

Domaine Allemand is the oldest of the Hautes-Alpes estates. It was founded in 1954 by Louis Allemand after he did his military service in Champagne and discovered his vocation.

Right from the start, the estate focused on the quality of its production (small volumes, manual harvesting, plot selection, etc.). In the 1990s, Marc Allemand set about preserving the mollard grape variety, a local variety which was disappearing at the time.

Today, the 11 hectares cultivated by the estate stretch mainly below the small village of Théüs, a historic terroir in the department, particularly well-suited to vine-growing. Reds, rosés and whites, as well as traditional methods, confit de vin and liqueurs, offer a wide range of gourmet combinations.

Its name may seem strange to you, but in our region "mollard" means "little mountain" or "little hill"!

This red grape variety, with its spicy notes, is emblematic of the Hautes-Alpes. We use it in a number of different cuvées.

As a general rule, we hardly treat our vines at all, and the few phytosanitary products we do use are mainly certified organic.

The estate's wines regularly win awards at competitions such as the Concours Général Agricole de Paris and the Concours National des Vinalies, and are selected each year by the Guide Hachette.

Today, they share their expertise through oenology workshops and food and wine tastings.
