Curious hikes: Guillestre’s quarries and canals
From the old town center and its pink-clad monuments, this panoramic loop along the irrigation canals leads to the Guillestrois marble quarries, from the oldest to the most recent.
Along the canals, we'll trace the history of this material back to the various pink veins, evoking how it was mined, cut, transported and used.
Practical info: 2h discovery walk, 3h30 total (D+ 250m/9km).
Outing supervised by a mountain leader and Pays d'art et d'histoire guide. Walking shoes, water, hat.
Registration required online or at Serre-Ponçon and Guillestrois-Queyras tourist offices.
