A doyenne
who never gets old
Montgenèvre is a pioneer. The first French resort to open its slopes in 1907, it remains a major crossroads today, perched on its eponymous pass at 1,860 m altitude. In the heart of the village, skiers step right onto their doorstep to take to the slopes on either the Chalvet or Gondrans side. And for those with a sweet tooth, the horizon widens: head for Italy and the Milky Way, the vast cross-border ski area that gives every descent a taste of escape.

A heritage
that speaks loudly
In Montgenèvre, history can be read in stone and nature. The Janus and Chaberton fortifications still watch over the valley, witness to a strategic frontier. Further down, the Chenaillet reveals a rare geological treasure: an ancient oceanic ridge frozen in the mountain, at the heart of the nature reserve. And it‘ s here that the Durance, the emblematic river of the Hautes-Alpes, gushes forth.

Setting coursefor 2030
Tomorrow, Montgenèvre will reach another milestone: the resort will host events for the 2030 Winter Olympics. An accolade for a region that has always been one step ahead. The event promises to be a gas pedal, a new chapter in which the doyenne will prove once again that it knows how to evolve without ever renouncing its Alpine identity.

Two countries
a large domain
It’s one of Montgenèvre’s signature features: the Franco-Italian 100 run. In a single stretch, skiers switch from one country to the other, from the French Alps to the panoramas of Piedmont. A unique experience that symbolizes the resort’s DNA: a place of passage, sharing and openness. A borderless mountain that invites you to travel.
