The fortifications of Briançon are hosting two stages of the Mountain Running World Cup.
This is the second time that this international sporting event has come to Briançon, in the form of the Vauban Mountain Trail and the Vertical Kilometre. These events combine mountain running with cultural heritage, taking participants through the forts of Briançon, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Since last summer, the French Mountain Running and Trail Running teams have made Briançon their base camp and will return to train in spring 2026 to prepare for the European Championships.
Course details:
• Long Course: 14 km – Elevation gain: +1000 m/-1000 m
• Vertical Kilometre: 6 km – Elevation gain: +1150 m/-0 m
• Short Course: 7 km – Elevation gain: +300 m/-300 m
Open to all, members and non-members alike. A detailed programme will be available shortly.
