Concert Aàgut

Three women's voices with strong vocal personalities, accompanied by Alan Blum's finely crafted percussion, travel through the popular repertoires of the Pyrenees – and more particularly the Béarn region where Caroline Sasal, the ensemble's artistic director, hails from – all the way to Galicia, following the ridge that links the south of France to the north of Spain. The four musicians with their travelling souls take ancestral songs from different regions and breathe new vitality into them, by subtly shifting inherited traditional forms, giving them an original vocal treatment or adding more contemporary elements to the arrangements on offer. At times delicate and touching, the four musicians also know how to lead listeners into states of collective exaltation and shared enthusiasm, reminding us that music has been, in all eras, a privileged means of uniting hearts in joy.

Between January and June, Artistes en présences offers a travelling musical season, in the heart of the villages and valleys of the Haut-Alpes, far from the hustle and bustle of summer, in a more intimate setting with the local people. The programme for this annual season features classical and contemporary repertoires, world music, traditional music, jazz and improvised music.
