What is PAT?
The agricultural and agri-food sectors are destined to play their full part in this transition, with their own specific challenges, which mean that adapting our production model must go hand in hand with preserving our food sovereignty.
One of the measures aims to support territorial food projects (PAT), which bring together the various players in a given area around the issue of food, helping to take account of the area’s social, environmental, economic and health dimensions.
The Hautes-Alpes has been awarded the PAT Level 2 label.

Objectives of the PAT Hautes-Alpes
The Hautes-Alpes PAT brings overall coherence to the department’s food system, with a single objective: to strive for food excellence and exemplarity. A response to the current environmental, economic and social crisis.
From upstream to downstream, the project targets producers, intermediary operators (processing), the resident population (particularly schoolchildren and the underprivileged), as well as the tourist population, around 5 strategic axes.

The 5 strategic axes of the PAT Hautes-Alpes
- Structuring departmental food governance and completing the territorial diagnosis
- Preserve the natural environment (soil, water, biodiversity) and promote more sustainable production methods
- Strengthening the resilience and adaptation of the agri-food economic fabric
- Reinforce local products in long-distance circuits and develop short-distance circuits
- Promote sustainable food choices (particularly in catering), educate consumers and reduce inequalities in access to quality, sustainable food.
