Day 1<\/em>La Grave \u2192 Brian\u00e7on<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Brian\u00e7onnais<\/a><\/strong>Brian\u00e7onnais is a region with an exceptional heritage, with a town that has been awarded the Ville et Pays d’Art et d’Histoire label, the mythical<\/strong> Lautaret, Izoard and Galibier passes<\/strong>, the Lautaret alpine botanical garden and, of course, the Meije glaciers, which you can discover by taking the cable car from the village of La Grave<\/strong>. It’s also the proximity to Italy and its wild high valleys.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Day 2<\/em>Brian\u00e7on \u2192 Italy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brian\u00e7on<\/strong>, the “upper town fortified” by Vauban<\/strong>, and the Clar\u00e9e valley<\/strong>, which preserves the biodiversity of some of the most remarkable natural areas in the European Union. Italy, in the Piedmont region, with the town of Clavi\u00e8re, a winter junction between the Italian and French slopes. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Back to France, on the roads to Vallouise<\/strong> and Pelvoux<\/strong> in the \u00c9crins massif \u00c9crins massif<\/a><\/strong>the gateway to the high mountains, with frontiers bearing evocative names (Glacier Blanc, Aiguilles d’Ailefroide), where nature offers unparalleled scenery. Head for the highest peaks with the Pr\u00e9 de Madame Carle and its view of the Glacier Blanc<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Day 4<\/em>La Vallouise \u2192 Serre-Pon\u00e7on<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Two outstanding cultural heritage sites. Mont-Dauphin<\/strong>, France’s most beautiful village, and its Vauban stronghold<\/strong>, also a UNESCO World Heritage site, perched on a steep rock between the Guil and Durance rivers, and Serre-Pon\u00e7on, described as the “sea in the mountains”, with its lake and art treasures such as theAbbaye de Boscodon<\/strong>, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, and the church at Savines-Le-Lac<\/a><\/strong>church, listed as a 20th-century<\/sup> heritage site.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Day 5<\/em>Serre-Pon\u00e7on \u2192 Valgaudemar<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Departure from Serre-Pon\u00e7on<\/a><\/strong>head for the Valgaudemar<\/strong> <\/a>in the center of the \u00c9crins massif<\/strong>, with its high mountain landscapes. Of glacial origin, narrow and steep, it is dominated by mythical peaks such as L’Olan and Les Bans, and is one of the massif’s great valleys. When the snow melts, waterfalls roar down the valley, giving this photographic tip of the world an Icelandic feel.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
