Thanks to the Durance<\/strong> River and the Serre-Pon\u00e7on<\/a> hydroelectric dam<\/strong>, the Hautes-Alpes<\/strong> is one of Europe’s top 5 regions <\/strong>in terms of renewable energy potential. SEM \u00c9nergie Hautes-Alpes <\/strong>a strategic tool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The creation of a semi-public company<\/strong> dedicated to renewable energies marked a turning point. This company brings together local authorities and private investors to manage renewable energy production projects. For example, it is responsible for the development of local hydroelectric power plants<\/strong>, as well as solar farms and biomass heating plants<\/strong>. Its role is twofold: to ensure that projects are accepted by local residents and that the economic value remains in the area. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Emblematicprojects<\/strong> in progress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Solar power is gaining momentum. Photovoltaic panels<\/strong> have been deployed on the department’s 3 airfields<\/a><\/strong>, transforming these infrastructures into electricity producers. In the mountains, the resorts of Serre Chevalier<\/a><\/strong> and Les Orres<\/strong> <\/a>are pioneers in this field: the former has set up an energy mix integrating solar power, micro-hydro and biomass to achieve self-sufficiency, while the latter is testing innovative solutions to reduce consumption and cover part of its needs with solar power. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Setting an example<\/strong><\/strong>even in the refuges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Energy innovation is not limited to large-scale infrastructure. In the Alps, several mountain refuges<\/a>, such as Chamoissi\u00e8re and l’Alpe de Villar-d’Ar\u00e8ne, stand out for their self-sufficiency: a combination of solar panels, small wind turbines, micro-hydroelectricity and battery storage. This equipment reduces the ecological footprint<\/strong> while offering comfort and safety to visitors, illustrating the Hautes-Alpes<\/strong> ‘ ability to combine tourist appeal with environmental excellence. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
