turn, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hautes-alpes.net\/en\/destinations-hautes-alpes\/guillestrois-queyras\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"47248\">Guillestrois Queyras<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hautes-alpes.net\/en\/destinations-hautes-alpes\/serre-poncon\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"56981\">Serre-Pon\u00e7on<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hautes-alpes.net\/en\/destinations-hautes-alpes\/champsaur-valgaudemar\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"39445\">Champsaur Valgaudemar<\/a> regions hosted these there, at an altitude of 2,250 meters, at <strong>the Clot des Vaches mountain hut<\/strong> in the town of Mon\u00eatier-les-Bains, that <strong>the Hautes-Alpes region officially kicked off its summer season<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mountain hut wardens, mountain guides, tour guides, first responders, representatives from nature parks, sports federations, mountaineering villages, and tourism professionals all turned out for this gathering, which over the years has become the true \u201ccouncil of elders\u201d for the High Alps.<strong><br\/><br\/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item is-style-default\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On this occasion, Yvan Chaix, director of the Development Agency, strikes a balance between confidence and caution <em>: \u201c <strong>The season is off to a promising start<\/strong>, but the geopolitical and economic climate calls for caution. It is more comfortable, more sustainable, and more integrated into its surroundings.   <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item is-style-default\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Built using local materials, powered by renewable energy, and certified as a \u201cMediterranean Sustainable Building\u201d at the Gold level, it symbolizes a mountain that looks to the future without losing sight of its identity. With this project,<strong> the town\u2019s mayor, Jean-Marie REY, a high-mountain guide, is leading the way. <\/strong>  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-image\"><div class=\"wrapper\"><div class=\"group-media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hautes-alpes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/journee-des-gardiens-de-refuges-cedric-tempier-16-960x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"single_image ws-image-601013\"><div class=\"credits\"><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption\"><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item is-style-default\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The symbolism is all the more powerful because, behind the walls of this refuge, a new chapter is also unfolding for the mountain refuges of the Hautes-Alpes. <strong>Estelle JEMY, warden <\/strong>of the Clot des Vaches, has joined the leadership of <strong>the Association of High-Alps Mountain Hut Wardens as vice president<\/strong>, alongside<strong>\u00c9milie CREUSOT<\/strong>, warden of the Olan hut, who <strong>will serve as president<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-image\"><div class=\"wrapper\"><div class=\"group-media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hautes-alpes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/journee-des-gardiens-de-refuges-cedric-tempier-31-1-893x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"single_image ws-image-601030\"><div class=\"credits\"><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption\"><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item is-style-default\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With <strong>more than 45 mountain huts, 1,800 kilometers of long-distance hiking trails, nearly 5,000 kilometers of short-distance hiking trails, and a dozen regional hiking circuits,<\/strong> the Hautes-Alpes offer one of the most remarkable mountain hiking networks in France. Behind these successes lies a shared ambition: <strong>to turn an agricultural product into<\/strong> much more than just a product\u2014into <strong>a true ambassador for the region<\/strong>.   <strong><br\/><br\/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-scrollable-section-item ws-section-scrollable-item is-style-default\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To understand the driving forces behind these successes <strong>, the Hautes-Alpes Development Agency organized a study tour from June 9 to 11, 2026, focused on the agri-food sectors of excellence in France and Switzerland<\/strong>.
